Events in the Irish Jesuit Province

The Jesuit Communication Centre has been involved with most of the Province’s key apostolates to a lesser or greater extent, offering public relations advice, attracting media attention to particular events, developing marketing plans, building relationships with journalists and so on.

In short, the role of the JCC is to unify and professionalize the Jesuit approach to dealing with the media and the public at large. The potential benefits of this are many; Jesuit announcements are clearer and leave little room for misunderstanding, apostolates are better able to get their message out to the public, the Jesuit voice is perceived as professional and credible, Jesuits are not just talking to a select or small group, there is an audience for their ideas and they know how to present themselves to this audience. And probably most importantly, the huge goodwill that exists towards the Jesuit Order is being nourished for the benefit of all the apostolates and the people who come into contact with them. There is a palpable perception that people like and want to hear about the work of the Jesuits and are generally well disposed to the Order.
