belvedere_01Donal Buggy was one of 25 parents and teachers who signed up for “A retreat in Belvedere, with daily half-hour meetings with a spiritual director for one week during Lent”. As the day approached, he admitted to frantic thoughts of abandoning the idea, hiding behind spurious work-related excuses; but the first meeting allayed his anxieties.  Over the week he came to be grateful for his director’s ability to put him at his ease in thinking and talking about the most important questions around faith and God, and for her skill at making accessible a language and an approach to simple daily prayer: finding God in all things, allowing his imagination to bring him into the daily Gospel; tuning in to “heart knowledge” rather than goal-directed activity. Since then he continues his prayer by logging into the “immensely helpful prayer website, www.sacredspace.ie
