limerick_01Limerick will play host to a new intercultural soccer festival, The Limerick Sixes Soccer World Cup 2010, which will take place on Saturday, 25 September between 11am-7pm in the grounds of the Crescent Comprehensive School, Dooradoyle. Jesuit Refugee Service Ireland is one of a number of bodies which came together to organise this new annual event, which will seek to promote the role of sport – particularly soccer – in contributing to integration in the Mid-West. The festival also creates an opportunity to celebrate the growing cultural diversity in Limerick through food, music and dance. Thirty-two teams, representing countries from all over the world, will battle it out to be crowned Limerick Sixes World Cup champions 2010! A women’s soccer tournament will also take place showcasing some of the region’s best footballing talent. To download a brochure and application form, click here.
