Getting serious about communications

jesweb_01“Do the Jesuits really mean it when they advocate embracing a culture of digital communications?” was the dominant question for 30 Jesuits and colleagues, at the European Webmasters Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, 5-8 May. Participants from Australia, North America and Europe, including Joe Greenan (HR), Piaras Jackson SJ (Sacred Space) and Pat Coyle (Jesuit Communication Centre) from Ireland, were challenged to get their Provinces fully on board with the ongoing communications revolution as the most effective way to bring the Good News to those with whom they work. John Dardis SJ, head of the European Jesuit Provincials, video-conferenced from Brussels to dialogue with the participants about Jesuit ministries more fully engaging with contemporary secular society through an integrated approach to new and existing media.
