Apart from the usual liturgical ceremonies, Gardiner St church will also offer the Prayer in the Garden on Holy Thursday at 8.45-9.45 pm. This will re-enact the events in the Garden of the First Holy Thursday and will take place in the church/community garden, entrance through the church. If weather is bad, it will take place in the church. On Good Friday, there will be Prayer around the Cross at 7.30 pm – a series of prayers, meditation, music and action to suit the evening. The usual Easter Vigil will be at 9 p.m Saturday. Other celebrations – Mass on Holy Thursday at 7.30 and Good Friday liturgy at 3 p.m.
JRS Ireland have launched their annual Easter Egg Appeal this week. They are asking for donations of Easter Eggs for the children of asylum seekers living in hostels in Dublin City and for the Easter Egg Hunt, which will take place in Mountjoy Square on Easter Sunday for migrant children and chidlren from the inner city. As part of its fund-raising to offset a forecasted shortfall of €120,000 in running costs this year, the Belvedere Youth Club plans a concert with Essence (Canadian soprano Karen Lynch; Irish tenor Paul Redmond) at 8 p.m. on 2 April in the O’Reilly Theatre, Belvedere College. Tickets €20.
