Holy Week and Easter services

Irish Jesuit ministries are offering a range of services to help people reflect and pray through Holy Week and Easter. These include Masses, a week of guided prayer, a final Lenten prayer evening, a retreat, school and young adult services, and a movie series. Among the services at St Francis Xavier Church on Gardiner Street, Dublin, are the blessing of palms, service of reconciliation, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, and Easter Sunday family Mass. Holy Week takes place from Sunday, 10 April until Saturday, 16 April 2022 with Easter Sunday falling on 17 April 2022.

Palm Sunday & Holy Week Services 2022

Palm Sunday ~ April 9th/10th
Blessing of Palms at all Masses:
Vigil Mass on Saturday at 6 pm.
Sunday at 9.15 am, 11 am, 12.30 pm
Guided Prayer at 5 pm marks beginning of Parish Guided Prayer Week

Wednesday ~ April 13th
7 pm ~ Service of Reconciliation

Holy (Maundy) Thursday ~ April 14th
7 pm ~ Mass of the Lord’s Supper

Good Friday ~ April 15th
12 noon ~ Stations of the Cross (touring our parish, families welcome)
3 pm ~ Liturgy of the Passion
7 pm ~ Prayer around the Cross ~ An opportunity for quiet meditation, reflection.

Holy Saturday ~ April 16th
Confessions 10 am to 12 noon
9 pm ~ Easter Vigil.

Easter (Day) Sunday ~ April 17th
Masses at:
9.15 am
11 am
12:30 pm ~ Easter Sunday Family Mass
7:30 pm ~ Gospel Choir Mass

A Week of Guided Prayer will start at 5pm on Sunday 10 April and will end with the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday, 16 April. It will be an opportunity to pray from the heart with participants checking in during the week, online or in person. For those who are interested, email [email protected] or phone 01 836 3411.

MANRESA JESUIT CENTRE OF SPIRITUALITY

The final Lenten Prayer Evening will take place at Manresa, Dublin from 7.30pm to 9pm on Tuesday 12 April. These evenings create a ‘sacred space’ for people to open their heart to the Word of God, helping to prepare to celebrate God’s great love for them. No need to book – just come along. An Eight-Day Holy Week Guided Retreat will take place at Manresa from 8 to 17 April. The Retreat will enable people to enter fully into the sacred drama of the Church’s holiest week. They are invited to accompany Jesus, as he reveals the depth and perfection of God’s love for them. Michael Kirwan SJ will give an input each morning as an aid to prayer and reflection, after which he and members of the Manresa team will be available to meet retreatants personally. CLONGOWES WOOD COLLEGE SJ

This Good Friday the college will stream a liturgy called ‘The Way of the Cross’ from the College Chapel in Clongowes at 3pm. It will include an exploration of the paintings by renowned artist Seán Keating and singing by members of the Clongowes Schola. It will be led by college rector Fr Michael Sheil SJ and musical director Cyril Murphy. Click here for the link ».

The Easter Retreat April 20-23 (closed now) is focused on Christ’s journey through to the cross into resurrection: how he chooses the cross to abide with us, how we choose eternal life by abiding with him.
