teacher_01.jpgBefore their suppression in 1773, the Jesuits had been called the schoolmasters of Europe. Back in 1605 Francis Bacon, the philosopher and Lord Chancellor of England, had advised:  “For education consult the schools of the Jesuits. Nothing hitherto in practice surpasses this.” – The Advancement of Learning: Book 1 (1605)
