World renowned canon lawyer Professor Ladislas Orsy SJ was in Milltown Park on Wednesday night to launch a new book of lectures on the Second Vatican Council, Reaping the Harvest: Fifty years after Vatican II. Edited by Dr Suzanne Mulligan, the book contains the text of anniversary lectures on the council given in Manresa House of Spirituality, Clontarf earlier this year.
Apart from Dr Mulligan’s own contribution, there are lectures by Dr Jim Corkery SJ and Dr Gerry o’Hanlon SJ
After reminiscing about the opening day of the Vatican Council, specifically about the “humility and the humanity” of Pope John XXIII, Professor Orsy praised the book of Mulligan, O’Hanlon and Corkery. It was not, he said, a matter of launching a book so much as launching a dialogue. “Some physicists say,” he continued, “that one drop of water falling into the ocean in some way changes the whole universe; may the blessing of God be with this book and make it like a drop of water, changing as much in the universe as it can.”
More than 60 people attended the launch in the recently opened Arrupe Room in Milltown. Reaping the Harvest is published by Columba Press.
